Dear Calder,
You have no doubt received the Law Officer's
opinion on the Hong Kong piracy case, and you will
remember that in your official letter of October the 15th, 1931, the question of who should bear the costs if an appeal was possible was left over for considera-
tion after the opinion had been obtained.
I write only to remind you of this, as
our view is that the cost involved should not fall
on Imperial funds, and you will no doubt refrain from
committing us in any way.
